In Book Two: Venus Made-of-Light, Venus ventures onto land and has her first dose of the Logic Spell, which enables her to shapeshift into an earthgirl and to “think logically” while retaining her full mermaid intuition. While on land, she helps a group of cows who are being held captive by the Overrancher, who has brainwashed them to believe one type of cow is better than the other. Working together with Harriet the Flying Fox, hummingbirds, Cooper’s hawks, and 3 mice who might be blind, Venus and her friends outsmart the Overrancher with love and kindness, and Venus learns conflict mooodiation skills that promote inter-species harmony.
